I had an idea recently that I would like to draw but too many details don't yet exist. Comes with a bit of a story but eh, that's how it works with me. Great, now I wanna make it a little story DX ~facepalm~
Midday at the market in high summer. Shading cloth canopies were stretched as far as they would go, sheltering those beneath from the heat of the sun. Two rows of stalls lined the wide cobblestone street, each individual stall set beneath it's own little shading canopy. Hot cobblestones left to bake in the sun between patches of shade scorched even the toughest unwary paw, creating quite an amusing spectacle for the stall owners selling their wares. Tails became fans, adding to the gentle breeze that hardly ruffled fur. Tiny reptilian creatures zipped and swooped on gossamer wings after bothersome insects attracted by the smell of free food. Their gentle, yet high pitched squeaks were barely heard over the babble of many voices.
A local burly Felisar male chuckles to himself as he watches a newcomer duck and weave around the groups clustered under the shade, yelping and hopping every few seconds as he steps on yet another scorching hot cobblestone. Judging by the newcomer's build, he guessed that the young fool was a teenage male, most likely city bred unlike himself. Seeing the hot pawed youngster draw near, he clears his throat, motioning him over once he'd caught his attention.
"Whats a young city male like yourself doin' runnin' 'round a small country town like this? Ya lost cub?"
"No, I am not lost. I am merely... perusing the various stalls here. That means browsing to you country bumpkins"
"Oh-ho, no need to get all high 'n mighty yer snobbiness. Us 'country bumpkins', as you put it, aren't what you city bred think we are. Why... well, well, well there goes a prime example right there. Oi Ebs! Find anymore trouble out yonder? I hear ya got chased right into ol' grouchy's lil patch o' heaven! Ha!"
"You heard right Zor! Got chased by a monster of a beast. I swear it was bigger than those armored bipeds out there. I wish those scatterbrain 'scientists' would hurry up and agree on a name for those giants"
Mouth already open to make an appropriately snarky retort, the teen looks over his shoulder towards the figure that the bigger male had hollered at. For a moment, all he saw was a fellow male about his age, maybe a bit older. The figure stopped and turned to face them before yelling back over the incoherent babble. Witnesses could have sworn the newcomer's jaw dropped open even further. What he had first thought was a male was really a female, and a masculine one at that. He averaged her height at about 6 foot at the top of her head, with broad shoulders, muscular limbs and a deep chest. What gave away her true gender the most was her equally broad hips and relatively small bust. She was relatively chubby, making her hips seem less broad and making her look more like a male at a glance, especially from certain angles. Her long, mega fluffy tail trailed behind her like a black snake that had sprouted thick luxurious fur. The way she held it and the way it curled made judging its length difficult but he estimated its overall length at about 6 foot, the same at her height.
That was about all he was able to take in before he realized his staring had been noticed. Caught off guard by the ferocity of her icy glare, he quickly shut his mouth and looked away, unconsciously lowering his head, ears and two tails submissively. He just barely heard a snort then a chatter. When he looked up again, she was nowhere in sight.
"Who... what... who was that?!"
"Ah, that there was Ebony, the local secret if you will. Ya know, for one meeting her for the first time, ya did pretty well. Especially for a city male. Not many react too pleasantly to her looks, even less so to her personality. She's as wild as they come, cub. Better steer clear after starin' at her like that. She hates it when someone stares, gets violent even. Slashed the last poor bugger's ear to ribbons and beat him up good. So you better be... eh? Where'd he go?"
He leaned forward to see if the teen was hiding in front of his stall then craned his neck as his eyes swept from right to left, soon spotting him heading off in the same direction Ebony had gone. He grunts and after a brief moment's thought, realised that the cub had wandered off right before he started to warn him about her. He groans and rubs his brow.
"Best of luck to you ya foolish cub... ya should'a listened. Hopefully she ain't in a bad mood, for his sake"
Further down the road, valiantly hopping from one patch of shade to another through the strips of heat and light, the teen tries to catch sight of the strange female while keeping a wary eye on where he put his paws. After a good twenty minutes of hopping and occasionally scorching his paws, he spots her.
Standing behind a stall that looked like it had been handmade, with the biggest sheltering canopy of all the stalls he'd seen so far and the most unique assortment of items for sale. Curious items that looked handmade, assorted objects that must have been found out in the wild lands that lie beyond the reaches of civilization and many more.
Only a few stalls away now, he hesitates for a moment then stops completely, watching as Ebony's stall was approached by a customer. He couldn't hear what was said, but from the way the two interacted, they knew each other well and a bit of playful teasing was exchanged as well as the sale of a few items. He waited until the female walked away before taking a breath to gather his courage and walk over, but before he could even lift a paw to take another step, yet another customer approached the fellow teen's stall. Only this time, they weren't alone. For a moment, his courage waned and he considered walking away but the way this group interacted with the bulky female. The social dynamic between them was totally different than the previous customer. Playful teasing was replaced with the barest hints of hostility, laced with forced tolerance and more than a suggestion of bad blood. He could only wonder what would happen if they met under different circumstances.
After several minutes, the group moved away and the teen made the first wise decision he'd made all day. To wait and let Ebony calm down before he approached her. The way she glared after the group and shoved the currency they had given her in exchange for the items they purchased into something out of sight made him gulp and fidget slightly. She was scary enough with her temper firmly reined in, the thought of how scary she would be without such control made him tremble. He chewed his lip lightly then started to browse nearby stalls as much to validate his presence as to kill time.
After a good hour had passed, he glances towards Ebony's stall, sitting on it's patch of discoloured cobblestones. The fluffy teen was sitting on a stool with her elbows resting on the counter of her stall, palms pillowing her chin and jaw. Draped over her shoulders like a scarf, a small, long backed fuzzy creature dozed. Once again he noticed her tail. It was currently fanning her back and side with a gentle continuous motion that wouldn't tire the muscles out too fast. His own tails were doing a similar motion to keep himself cool on such a hot day. Taking in a deep breathe, he gathered his courage and walks over to her.
One of her ears pricked up at his approach and swiveled towards him, a silent warning that his presence had been noticed.
(Ugh... this ended up sooo much longer than I expected! I'm getting a bit bored of this now so I'll just post it now and finish it up later. Took me a good 3-4 hours, while multitasking, to write this much and the library is gonna close soon. Keep a sharp eye out if you want to read how this ends! I haven't even gotten to my idea yet XD This is all just the stuff that leads up to it XD Leave a comment please! I need feedback)
